gardening for beginners round-up

BHGBetter Home and Gardens

Apple trees, plum trees, fig trees. Blueberry bushes, passion fruit vine. These things belong to two lists: 1-things that will be at our new house & 2-things I know nothing about (other than how to eat the fruit off of).

I’m pretty clueless on this whole gardening thing, but the new house has so much already planted and so much room to plant more. I would love to add some tomatoes and herbs and beautiful flowers, yet I have no clue where to even begin.

Josh, on the other hand, is a pretty experienced gardener from working in his grandad’s garden for years growing up. While I usually let him take over in places he is the expert (ahem, the kitchen), I am actually really excited about learning to garden-getting my hands dirty. I want to move into the house having some basic knowledge, so I collected (what appear to be) some great gardening for beginners resources I’ve found in my search.

Also, I would love to hear your tips/experiences! Am I destined to be a black thumb? Is it be a black thumb or have a black thumb?

  1. This is so timely! Our new place has looads of room for garden- and some stuff planted (just waiting for the sun to come out to play to find out what exactly) but I’m a total beginner. I know how to pull weeds and that’s about it. I’ll be reading through these resources for sure!
